Llandudno Weekend 2014

Witches and ghouls, devils and monsters gathered for Samhain at the Queens this year with a lot of effort and imagination having been put in to some brilliant costumes - well done to all!  Damien Dempsey won the costume prize with everyone still wanting to know how he zipped his face up!

As always, everyone entered into the spirit of things and Keith Rowe lead us all in the Time Warp, whilst the Monster Mash was performed well by the scary assembly.  My thanks to Robbie Beattie for being such a good sport for dunking the apples and getting a little wet!  The Halloween Fortune Cookie prizes and ghostly candles helped the atmosphere along and I am grateful to the Queens for decorating the room for us in true Samhain style!

Halloween is not a favourite of mine I have to admit, but this one was fun filled and one to remember with a smile!  Pics of Samhein can be downloaded as a pdf here, or a slideshow viewed here.

Saturday morning found us doing the Danzon, which was very different but handled well by everyone - there was a suggestion I turned it into a sequence dance, but judging by the lack of entries for the competition at our Latin Party in the evening I'm not sure it would be that welcome!

The weather held and once again we were lucky enough to be there at the right time to see the fireworks being let off from the pier which is always a welcome bonus.

The Saturday night Latin Party offered opportunities for some wonderful music which everyone seemed to appreciate.  As already mentioned there were few entries for the Danzon competition but
in the end I had no choice but to make it a joint win between our reigning Llandudno champions, Fred and Maria, and our lovely youngsters Aiydin and Vicky!

The Latin Party Night pdf to download can be found here, and the slide show can be viewed here.

A great weekend thanks to your sens of humour and willingness to enter into the fun!  Looking forward to 2015 which will be The Golden Age of Broadway and a chance to do American Smooth!
