Caernarfon Weekend 2019

For the first time in many years the club moved it's weekend away venue to the Celtic Royal in Caernarfon and what a great move it proved to be!

The hotel was clean, warm and comfortable with lovely staff.  Parking was not only free but easy to access. The greatest joy was of course the ballroom, which was completely ours for the whole weekend - no fighting off afternoon tea or Santa on Saturday morning and, joy of joys, the floor gave us room to move!

Friday night also changed from Gill's party night to Robbie's (Beattie) Big Party night as it was actually his birthday!  It was a truly fabulous evening with a brilliant atmosphere.
Dinner was served in the ballroom which allowed the freedom of communication across the tables and the food was excellent!  What's more, we didn't have to order breakfast or the following night's meal.  Having our own bar was also a big help.

Fiona was back to ensure the decorations didn't collapse and keep me under control.  We were however missing Lucy's other half, John. who was still travelling to us, the Devereux duo and Paula & Rob - but as they were enjoying the early arrival of their first grandson were forgiven!

We had a great class on Saturday morning trying to do a tribute to Astaire and the ballroom was used to good advantage with time for some private lessons which was a great bonus.  Although chilly, the weather was kind and many took advantage of the indoor swimming pool facilities, so plenty for people to do.

Saturday night everyone was 'Puttin' On The Ritz' and I have to say the glitz and glamour was a sight to behold - thanks to everyone for their efforts and to the 'original' costume winners and runners up!  I hope the prize of the Ritz London Book of Afternoon Tea has been enjoyed and put to good use!

Friday night's absconders all arrived safely and very pleased we were to see them!  Unfortunately, Richard and Jan Clarke were missing due to Richard's illness, but he called to wish us a successful evening and everyone attempted a Samba for him - including those who wouldn't normally attempt one - bu the smiling faces showed they were having fun!  All in all, another enjoyable evening in delightful company!

We're heading back in 2020, which will hopefully be another fabulous weekend!
